About 19 - Shri Nartiang Durga Shakti Peeth
The Nartiang Durga Temple in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills is a 600-year-old Shakti Peeth, believed to be the permanent residence of Goddess Durga. Devotees believe that the left thigh of Goddess Durga fell here, making the temple highly revered. King Dhan Manik established Nartiang as the summer capital of the Jaintia Kingdom, where the goddess appeared to him in a dream, asking for a temple in her honour. The temple's strategic location and armaments suggest it was part of the Jaintia King's fort. The goddess is known as Jayanteshwari, and the temple attracts pilgrims from across the country, especially during Durga Puja.
नर्तियांग दुर्गा मंदिर, मेघालय के पश्चिम जयंतिया पहाड़ियों में स्थित एक 600 साल पुराना शक्ति पीठ है, जिसे देवी दुर्गा का स्थायी निवास स्थान माना जाता है। भक्तों का मानना है कि देवी दुर्गा का बायां जांघ यहां गिरा था, जिसके कारण यह मंदिर अत्यंत पूजनीय है। राजा धन मणिक ने जयंतिया साम्राज्य की ग्रीष्मकालीन राजधानी के रूप में नर्तियांग को स्थापित किया था, जहां एक रात देवी ने उन्हें स्वप्न में दर्शन दिए और अपनी पूजा हेतु मंदिर बनाने की आज्ञा दी। मंदिर की रणनीतिक स्थिति और शस्त्रों की उपस्थिति से यह प्रतीत होता है कि यह जयंतिया राजाओं के किले का हिस्सा था। देवी को जयंतेश्वरी के नाम से जाना जाता है, और मंदिर विशेष रूप से दुर्गा पूजा के दौरान देश भर से श्रद्धालुओं को आकर्षित करता है।
